  http://www.arcmachines.com/ This company is the Gold Standard in automated orbital welding. I have never heard of orbital welding done an a robotic arm. Much simpler and more accurate to mount a circular track on the workpiece.

  The processes normally used are GTAW, SMAW, and SAW. SAW is for heavy wall pipe, in the shop only. Thyssen and Metrode are among those producing quality filler metals for P/T91. Combined Cycle Journal and the HRSG User's Group are excellent sources of information (search for them on google).
