I spent my academic time at McGill and the Technical University in Munich studying the anatomy and neurophysiology of inner ears of frogs, lizards, birds and mammals, but especially lizards and birds. I also carried out a lot of research on lizard and emu hearing in Perth, W. Australia. I am now retired but somewhat active in research as a guest in my wife's lab (Christine Köppl) in Oldenburg University, Germany. I am now studying the patterns of spontaneous otoacoustic emissions in all ears.
