About

In 2001-2002 I discovered the central role of hepcidin in the regulation of iron homeostasis. At that time, I made the demonstration that hepcidin is an hyposideremic hormone acting to repress the iron availability into the body. Importantly, this work has completely changed the view of iron homeostasis, explained many diseases (several types of hemochromatosis or anemias) and opened many new avenues into the field of iron homeostasis. I continue to work of this field.
