Advances in next-generation sequencing and genome-wide association studies have led to the rapid discovery of a vast amount of disease-associated mutations. In order to efficiently elucidate their function, we recently developed an iCRISPR platform for efficient and inducible gene editing in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). We are currently combining iCRISPR and tissue engineering in hPSCs to generate 3D organoid models to study different aspects of human development and disease in vitro.
