Classical Homeopath, registered member of the Italian Association of Homepaths (AIO). Thanks to constant travelling due to my family's job, I consider my self lucky to have had the opportunity to have studied homeopathy in three different Colleges: Ireland, Uk and Italy. I have experience in the treatment of learning and behavioral disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, allergies and food intolerances, panic attacks, drug addictions, etc. Nutritionist and Psychologist with Pharmaceutical back-ground, I turned to Homeopathy and to teaching because I passionately believe in the homeopathic way of promoting health and curing sickness.

[more] Down the ages, drugs have been eaten, drunk, and smoked as a means of attaining a state of narcosis with colorful and fantastic visions. Addiction means a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity despite harmful consequences to the individual health, mental state or social life; be it heroin or alcohol, chemicals drugs, chocolate or work, sex or church. Drug addiction is considered a pathological state. The disorder of addiction involves the progression of acute drug use to the development of drug-seeking behavior, the vulnerability to relapse, and decreased or slowed ability to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli. An addiction state is characterized by three stages: preoccupation/anticipation, binge/intoxication, withdrawal/negative affect. Drug addiction differs from drug dependence and drug tolerance. The difference between substance abuse and addiction is very slight. Substance abuse means using an illegal substance or using a legal substance in the wrong way. Addiction begins as abuse, or using a substance like marijuana or cocaine. You can abuse a drug (or alcohol) without having an addiction. Addiction means a person has no control over whether he or she uses a drug or drinks. Someone who's addicted to cocaine has grown so used to the drug that he or she has to have it. Addiction can be physical, psychological, or both. The most intricate step in the treatment of an addiction is acknowledgement of the habit. People with addictions often cannot abstain on their own. The realization of the underlying problem and enhancing the immune system with the help of homeopathic remedies can give an enduring cure, physically, mentally and emotionally. Hence, homeopathy can play a fundamental role in treating addiction. Constitutional homeopathic treatment will act skillfully on the person’s inherent nature, molding and harmonizing the person’s self-energy to control the life situations. Constitutional homeopathic treatment along with proper counselling and psychotherapy will help address any related medical, psychological, social and cognitive problems. Homeopathy can facilitate with detoxification, behavioural negativities, denial and deterioration from addictions. In addition, it will help build motivation to resist Addictions, replace addictive activities with positive and rewarding behaviours, and safely manage the symptoms of withdrawal associated with quitting addictions. Furthermore, the constitutional approach will also facilitate interpersonal relationships and the ability to function in the home and society.

[more] In the history of therapy, the "principle of similarity" - the treatment of "like with like - can be traced in more than one medical tradition, such as those of Hippocrates, Paracelsus and Hahnemann (the founder of homeopathy). Although in recent years, it is witnessing the revival of interest in traditional medicines and medical practices "holistic", the validity of the principle of similarity has yet to be demonstrated on experimental basis and very few studies have been conducted to try to understand the mechanisms underlying . To accept this phenomenon evidence will be necessary in support of possible mechanisms and high-quality studies that verify its usefulness in clinical medicine. The ‘Law of Similars’ expresses itself through the physiological process of homeostasis. All living things are capable of homeostasis – that means a ‘self regulation of a constant healthy state.’ If the body has the capacity of homeostasis at all times then it would have the capacity to heal itself at all times. The processes of homeostasis then are the processes of self healing. The part of the living organism which carries out these processes is what we call the ‘defense mechanism’. Researches in Biology have proven that every cellular process and body system is controlled and kept in a healthy state by the ‘systems of homeostasis’ or by the ‘healing system’ of the body. The body is a homeostatic system, which means that when it monitors changes that may take it outside the normal range of its function, it acts to compensate for these changes. The purpose of this work is to provide a rational analysis of various aspects of the medical principle both historical and yet modern, with a view to build a reliable conceptual framework that would facilitate subsequent clinical and theoretical studies in this area; to demonstrate that Homeopathic Science is based on solid premises and concepts as the physiological mechanism of homeostasis.
