Decena is an interdisciplinary social scientist, feminist theorist, and social justice educator and practitioner. He specializes in immigration studies, Latin@ Studies, critical ethnic studies, cultural theory, and Hemispheric American Studies. He is the author of the 2011 Tacit Subjects: Belonging and Same-Sex Desire among Dominican Immigrant Men (Duke UP). His single and co-authored articles have appeared in respected publications in the humanities, social, and behavioral sciences.
