One that we ... [more]Kai Fauth's answer is complete, @questioner: but I needed to say that I disagree that "wavefunction" is a purely mathematical quantity ! One that we cannot directly measure is not non-physical, we can get an estimate of the probability density and that comes from the wavefunction, you can say its not measurable but its not "just mathematical artifact", because then you can also say "color charge" of the quarks are non-physical too ! A state with non-zero angular momentum can give you a non-zero angular momentum expectation value and the state do have a charge, so a magnetic moment do exist why not interact with external field ?Following
