Article: CO2 RESPIRATION IN SOILS OF FIELD ECOSYSTEMS FORMED FROM DIFFERENT ORIGIN PARENT MATERIAL

ABSTRACT: Research was taken out in the area of Wielkopole on soils formed from outcropped cretaceous sandstones and alluvial material of the Pilica river valley. Main aim of the studies was the emission of CO2 from soils which was measured by the chamber CO2 separation method. Different chemical and physical properties under the cause of their influence on CO2 emissions were measured. Obtained results presents the statistical dependences between the CO2 emission values to other measured properties like soil porosity, soil reaction, acidity and sum of exchangeable cations.Ochrona Środowiska i Zasobów Naturalnych. 01/2010; 42:144-150. -

Article: CO2 EMISSION FROM FOREST AND MEADOW SOILS ON LOCATIONS OF BOLIMOWSKI LANDSCAPE PARK

ABSTRACT: Paper presents the results of studies taken out in the area of Bolimowski Landscape Park. Different forest and meadow ecosystems under the aim of CO2 emission and humus content were researched. Measured CO2 emissions on locations with litter were different from litter deprived stands. Highest values of CO2 emissions were measured in stands with high moisture (fresh meadow, marshy forest and Molinio pinetum stands). Article: Easy way to assay the amount of CO2 released from soil

ABSTRACT: It was presented an effective way to assign the amount of CO2 released from the soil. It was used the chemical Warder’s method with the closed chamber. The authors showed a couple of solutions to measure the emission of CO2 from soil with the aid of simple laboratory equipment. Article: THE CONTENT OF TRACE ELEMENTS IN WATER OF THE UPPER COURSE OF THE BZURA RIVER

ABSTRACT: In 1996–2004 water of the Bzura river in the area of Zgierz were examined\inspected in three investigation points: 1 – on the unpolluted part of the river; 2 & 3 – under many sources of pollutions. The contents of Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd were measured. Since autumn 1996, between investigation point 1 and points 2 and 3, two chemico-biological wastewater treatment plants have been working. In spring and summer 1996 before running these plants the analysis of the water was made twice. The results of the series of the analyses showed a very high content of heavy metals in the 2nd and 3rd investigation points. The content of Cu was 131–140 μg∙dmł, Zn 380–480 μg∙dmł, Pb 19–33 μg∙dmł, Cd 1.2–1.5 μg∙dmł. In the 1st investigation point the concentration of the above-mentioned elements were much lower. Another analyses were made in 2000, 2001 and a remarkable improvement of the quality of water of the Bzura river was noticed. The concentration of Cu was 2.5–4.9 μg∙dmł, Zn 40–70 μg∙dmł, Pb 1.0–3.8 μg∙dmł, Cd lower than 0,5 μg∙dmł. The analyses conducted in 2004 showed regrowth of the quantity of pollution in water of the Bzura river in the examined sector.Ochrona Środowiska i Zasobów Naturalnych. 01/2009; 40:491-496. -
