Answer added in Geographic Information System (GIS)13 Is there any way in ArcGIS to calculate the Latitude and Longitude of each pixel?By Rakhshan Roohi · La Trobe UniversityAndre Steinhäuser · Landesamt für Umwelt, Naturschutz und GeologieGood morning. You could convert the raster to polygons without dissolving and then calculate the center of each raster cell polygon. regards, AndréGood morning. Answer added in Biomonitoring9 What are the possible ways to promote benthic organisms' diversity in a stream system?By Dr.K.Mophin Kani · Manonmaniam Sundaranar UniversityAndre Steinhäuser · Landesamt für Umwelt, Naturschutz und GeologieThe main factor for diversity of benthic organisms is habitat diversity. You could increase: 1. morphologic diversity, e.g. punctual channel narrowing, leads to substrate diversity and general structural upgrading 2. substrate diversity , mainly by adding coarser substrates (gravel) 3. the number of different habitats, e.g. by adding dead wood as habitat 4. the plant cover of the river-banks (trees and bushes), first to create shadow and reduce the growth of macrophytes and second to give habitats to the adult phases of semiaquatic macroinverebrates such as Trichoptera, Plecotpera or Odonata. Meanwhile you should have a look at physical/chemical water qualiity. To get more specialised organisms, reduce nutrients-input from punctual sources (sewage plants etc.) and diffuse sources as well. regards, AndréFollowing

I can give you a short overview about what we do in germany/europe according to the European waterframework directive (WFD). The WFD defines four biologic quality elements for monitoring different impacts. 1. macroinvertebrates: monitoring structural degradation, saprobic pollution(point sources), diffuse sources/land use impacts 2. macrophytes and phytobenthos: monitoring trophic pollution and diffuse sources/land use impacts (via diatoms) 3. phytoplankton: monitoring trophic pollution, mainly in bigger rivers with autochthonous river plankton 4. fishes: monitoring structural degradation and ecological passability of river systmes further information can be found at the following link, a good overview gives page 37. https://circabc.europa.eu/sd/d/63f7715f-0f45-4955-b7cb-58ca305e42a8/Guidance%20No%207%20-%20Monitoring%20%28WG%202.7%29.pdf regards, AndréFollowing

Conference Proceeding: FGSK: WebGIS zur Erfassung von GewässerstrukturenFließgewässerstrukturgütekartierung in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
André Steinhäuser, Stephan Holl[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: See: www.fossgis.de/konferenz/2011/programm/events/220.de.html for the Conference-Page See: http://wald.intevation.org/projects/webfgsk/ for sourcecode and documentation Wasserwirtschaftliche Fachanwendungen und Freie GIS-Software passen prima zusammen.
