I am always amazed that people read what I write about my research -- and then comment about ME, about whom they know next to nothing, rather than about what I WRITE (about which they usually also know next to nothing, but hopefully more than the former). Ad hominem is always a clear indication that THE COMMENTERS do not know what they are writing about. By definition. RESEARCH is about the subject under consideration, not about the writer. People who read my work and want to comment about it, should edit their comments and strike out EVERYTHING that refers to the author and keep only statements about the topic under question that can be suppported by facts and/or other evidence. Often, they can just about strike out everything that they write. As for ME, that is reserved for the people who know ME.

Research skills

  • Technical
I won the men's club championship at my golfclub at age 61 3/4. Sports can be fudged only with difficulty -- as opposed to real life. First learn to keep score honestly on your scorecard, then break 100 for 18 holes -- if you can, and then we can talk technology. The "fuzzy" definition of "high tech" -- fuzzy because it changes over time -- is "cutting edge". What is that? Read the story of Facebook to see what really counts in technology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook
  • IT
At SLAC in Stanford I saw the first bit-mapped graphics as X's and O's on simple coordinate grid graphics paper, graphic "experiments" which in fact at that time were "forbidden" playtime products, for which operators were not supposed to be using valuable SLAC computer time.
  • Statistical
If there are two people who support my research work and one detractor, then the sum is three, 2 supporters plus me. The detractor is -1, in the 18th century a number regarded to be "meaningless".
  • Other
I taught RESEARCH at the university level.

[more] The hermetic tradition claims "As above, so below". Did the ancients mean that literally? Stars, Stones and Scholars shows that many ancient megalithic sites are not tombs, but are remnants of ancient local, regional and perhaps even larger Neolithic surveys of the Earth by Stone Age astronomy, with gigantic stones being placed as immovable survey markers. Circa 40 photographs, 240 drawings and 80 maps show how megaliths were carved and "sculpted" with figures and cupmarks (holes in the stones) to represent stars and constellations, long before the modern astrological Zodiac was known. Megalithic sites from England (Stonehenge), Wales (Paviland), Scotland (Clava Cairns), Ireland (Newgrange, Knowth), Germany (Externsteine), Benelux (Weris), France (Carnac), Italy (La Spezia), Malta (Tarxien), Greece, Turkey (Anatolia), Scandinavia (Tanum), the Baltic, Russia, the Near East, the Far East (China and Japan), Africa, Central and South America (Tikal, Maya, Aztecs), Oceania (Hawaii), The USA (Cahokia, Miami Circle, Clovis) and Canada (Peterborough Petroglyphs) are included in this fascinating book.
