I am interested in human-environment relations and their interrelationship with landscape change in tropical landscapes, particularly with deforestation and forest degradation. My PhD is on the landscape-level examination of the dynamics of shifting cultivation (swidden), and its linkages with livelihood changes, and their ecological consequences in Garo hills, Meghalaya in NE India using interdisciplinary methodologies including RS-GIS, quasi-anthropological work and ecological studies.
