Article: Magnetic and thermophysical properties of Gd(X)Mn(1-X)S solid solutions.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The structural, magnetic, and thermophysical properties of cation-substituted sulfides Gd(X)Mn(1-X)S (0.04 ≤ X ≤ 0.25) with the NaCl-type face-centered cubic lattice have been investigated. The range of existence of long-range antiferromagnetic order has been established. The anomalies observed in the temperature dependence of the specific heat correspond to the temperatures of the magnetic phase transition. The anomaly in the specific heat caused by electron transitions between the 4f levels and d band states has been observed. It has been found that the coefficient of thermal expansion decreases with increasing concentration of substituents in the magnetically ordered region and remains nearly invariable in the paramagnetic phase.Journal of Physics Condensed Matter 11/2012; 25(2):025802. · 2.55 Impact Factor -

Article: Critical behavior of the heat capacity of Ag-doped manganites
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The critical behavior of the heat capacity of silver-doped manganites has been studied. The laws of variation in the universal critical parameters near the phase transition point have been established. It has been shown that the universality class of the critical behavior of the heat capacity for the La1−x Ag y MnO3 (y≤x) system does not depend on the silver concentration or the synthesis conditions.Physics of the Solid State 05/2012; 52(2):335-338. · 0.71 Impact Factor -

ABSTRACT: Polycrystalline multiferroic PbFe0.5Nb0.5O3 (PFN) fabricated by a solid-phase method is studied. Before sintering, a synthesized PFN powder is processed in Bridgman anvils via a force action in combination with shear deformation (FASD) at room temperature. The electrophysical properties and structural parameters of processed samples and a reference sample are compared. Point defects are shown to play a key role in the formation of the physical properties beginning from an FASD of 200 MPa.Technical Physics 05/2012; 55(11):1596-1599. · 0.50 Impact Factor
