Bandura's term “self efficacy” is in common professional usage to mean “belief in one’s ability to be effective”. This is synonymous what is called “self confidence” in plain language. I think the term “self efficacy” should be avoided because it leads to confusion over whether the term means belief in efficacy or efficacy in fact.
