Over the years the population has had varied reasons for bearing children ranging from prestige, social security, sense of belonging, respect among others. But today are these the very reason why people in Africa bear children (varied age groups).
I am particularly interested to know what are the current reasons for bearing or not bearing children in Africa (Uganda). Has anyone done a similar study. I will appreciate sharing information on how I can achieve this objective.
This will help in policy making processes for development

I strongly belive that this related to economy or occupation transition of the country. As agrerian society is changing becz of change in occupation of parent, so the need of higher no of children also changing. On the other hand with limited monthly incomd the rearing cost also increasing. However, political and social war may another reason, in that case evacuate home with higher no. Of children may difficult for parent.

i think the reasons are not very different. In my country many persons consider a child like a sign of capacities to be a man or a woman in the society. But the change is in the number of children, in the past you have number with two figures but now young persons talk about 1 or 2. People are more educated and have access to informations about the world challenges.
