How can tartar and plaque be removed from teeth without grinding? is there any paste, etc. for it?

  Grinding = Scaling? I think to remove tartar the only way is scaling. But if there is only plaque you can remove with a tooth brush and past.

  There are no pastes to remove tartar. Ultrasonics are the best and effective mode for tartar removal. But for plaque one can use disclosing agents followed by use of polishing paste in the instrumentation zone ...

  Disclosing Agents are solutions used to stain plaque. Recent agents are two-tone dies which stain new and matured plaque in different colors. Plaque C is one such commercial product routinely used.

  To remove tartar You have to use scalers, curettes or ultrasonic devices. Plaque should be removed a) by the patient at home (important: motivation of the patient to care for his/her teeth) or b) in the studio with turning devices. Sometimes you can support with chlorhexidine(CHX).

  All of mentioned methodes can prevent plaque and calculus formation but they won't remove them. The only way to remove the calculus and taatar is scalling that acts on the basis of taking them off ( not actually grinding)

Brushing after meals and snacks will remove a large portion of this debris. It takes daily flossing, though, to remove the particles that wedge between the teeth and around the gum line.   For almost 30 years we've used alkaline calcium-zinc paste before, during and after scaling, cleaning or polishing, with no Novocain, no grinding, no ultrasonic, no laser use. It loosens and softens calculus and stain. Calcium is readily absorded from the paste and burnished into tooth structure, and zinc reduces bleeding and heals gingiva rapidly. The regimen whitens teeth and prevents further calculus formation, stain and decay leading to 6-month Recall appts. of 6 to 8 min.. This makes it hard to justify long hygiene appts. with Novocain that become 35-45 min. ordeals for everyone. If hygienists ever pick up this approach, they could see 4 or 5 patients an hour, need no Novocain, and experience pleasure enough for all involved.
