Job Description
The University of Montana, College of Forestry and Conservation seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of Bioclimatology who will contribute to the research, teaching and service missions of the College. This is a nine month, tenure-track position. Employment will begin fall 2012.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek an exceptional scientist whose research focuses on terrestrial biosphere-atmosphere interactions and/or vegetation-climate dynamics at regional to global spatial scales and at seasonal to decadal and longer timescales. The candidate will be expected to develop courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels that complement the existing curriculum. In addition, at the time of appointment, the candidate must: 1) possess a Ph.D. in meteorology, climatology, biogeography, landscape ecology or a closely related field; 2) provide evidence of a strong record of research and scholarship including publications in peer-reviewed journals and that suggests the potential to develop a successful, competitive externally-funded research program; and 3) demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with students, professionals, and the general public.

Preferred qualifications include:
Experience teaching courses in meteorology or climate science; post-doctoral research experience and training; interest in conducting research in the Rocky Mountain region; Preference will be given to applicants whose research complements that of other faculty in the College.

Responsibilities:
1) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, including an undergraduate course in bioclimatology available to the Climate Change minor program; 2) Develop a vigorous, externally funded research program in biometeorology/bioclimatology; 3) Advise undergraduate students, and direct graduate student research at the M.S. and Ph.D. level; and 4) Participate in department, CFC, and University committees. The successful candidate may also direct the Montana State Climate Office.

Scope:

The RN/Health Coach provides direct patient care, lifestyle coaching, health management counseling, health education, and referral services, to patrons of the onsite health clinic using an integrative health care model. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides acute, episodic, preventive and chronic care at the onsite health clinic.
• Independently provides patient assessment and treatment thru utilization of clinical protocols.
• Performs laboratory testing and administers injections and medications as ordered by the patient provider.
• Provides effective face-to-face and telephonic lifestyle coaching, disease management and health education to patrons of the onsite health clinic to assist participants in making lasting behavior changes to achieve and maintain optimal health and wellbeing.
• Assesses and tracks participants’ readiness, willingness, and ability to change; document all aspects of health coaching, support, and education; determines and provides relevant community and/or healthcare resources.

The post-doc will work within a research group in the research and development department of our company. The project includes identification and characterization of novel stroma cell-specific antigens. To date, stromal cell isolation and characterization is severely limited through the absence of specific antibodies. Utilizing expression profile information the project will raise novel monoclonal antibodies against human and mouse stromal antigens. mAbs and the corresponding antigens will be characterized by a combination of histochemical localization, functional studies in vitro and in vivo and biophysical studies.

The Department of Health and Human Performance within the Malek School of Health Professions at Marymount University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Health to join our undergraduate/ graduate programs beginning August, 2012. This is a full-time, tenure-track position with a nine-month academic year appointment.

The Department is housed in a new state-of-the art sciences building, Caruthers Hall which was completed in January 2011. The Department has three full-time faculty members. Enrollment in the Department has increased dramatically over the past 4years.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to teaching undergraduate courses in Health Science, Pre-Physical Therapy, and Health Promotion which follow the ACSM KSA's, or in Public Health; teaching graduate level courses in the Health Promotion Management program which follows NCHEC/CHES competencies; advising graduate and undergraduate students; curriculum development; providing service to the department, university, profession, and local community; conducting peer-reviewed research, pursuing collaborative student scholarship and seeking external funding/contracts; serving on department/university committees; supervising Graduate Assistants and student research projects; and summer teaching is optional.

The Bert Bolin Centre for Climate Research at Stockholm University conducts fundamental research on key features of the climate system. The Bolin Centre brings together climate research at the departments of Meteorology, Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Geological Sciences, and Applied Environmental Science. The research program comprises processes and dynamics governing the natural evolution and variability of our climate as well as anthropogenic influences on the climate system. The position is part of the Bolin Centre’s capacity building within the field of numerical climate modeling.

The Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology is one of the major departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. The department has 120 employees and approximately 1500 students. The main research disciplines are Geomorphology, Glaciology, Climatology, Quaternary Geology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing, Geographical Data Processing, Ecological Geography and Tropical Geography. Subject description
Paleoclimate modeling of the coupled ocean-land-atmosphere system during the Holocene and Pleistocene, with focus on the atmosphere and model/proxy data comparisons.

Required qualifications
Specific qualifications required to be considered as a candidate for employment as a senior lecturer include a PhD or a corresponding level of scientific competence within the subject area of the position, documented teaching proficiency, and the necessary general qualifications.
General qualifications include the ability to collaborate and the professional skills to perform all the duties of the position.

Teaching and learning theory
Higher education teaching theory, or corresponding knowledge obtained in another manner, is to be given credit. Candidates lacking formal advanced education in teaching theory corresponding to a minimum of 7.5 higher education credits and who are judged not in possession of corresponding teaching skills must pursue such studies during the first two years of employment.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process special consideration will be given to scientific and teaching proficiency, which will be weighted equally. Assessment of scientific proficiency will primarily focus on merits within the subject area of the position.
When merits are judged similar according to the general criteria, the following will be distinguishing:
•    documented experience of applying Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Models (AOGCM)

The position is part of the Bert Bolin Centre’s capacity building within the field of numerical climate modeling.The successful candidate is expected to participate in collaborative research within the Centre. The Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology (INK) is one of the major departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. The department has approximately 130 employees and educates approximately 1700 students annually. The main research disciplines are Geomorphology, Glaciology, Climatology, Quaternary Geology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing, Geographical Data Processing, Ecological Geography and Tropical Geography. Education is oriented towards geography, earth sciences, geosciences and environmental protection.

Subject: Environmental and Health Protection.

Subject description: Environmental and health protection is a multidisciplinary field with a base in natural science, engineering or medicine, focusing on environmental and health protection issues in society.

Main tasks: Research, teaching and supervision. The main tasks include responsibility for leading and developing the one year and the two year masters programmes in Environmental and Health Protection, including tuition, research and supervision. The development work demands extensive cooperation and liaison with other departments within Stockholm University, and with other universities, government agencies, businesses and NGOs.

Required qualifications: Specific qualifications required to be considered as a candidate for employment as a senior lecturer include a PhD or a corresponding level of scientific competence within the subject area of the position, documented teaching proficiency, and the necessary general qualifications.

General qualifications include the ability to collaborate and the professional skills to perform all the duties of the position.

Teaching and learning theory: Higher education in teaching theory, or corresponding knowledge obtained in another manner, is to be given credit. Candidates lacking formal advanced education in teaching theory corresponding to a minimum of 7.5 higher education credits and who are judged not in possession of corresponding teaching skills must pursue such studies during the first two years of employment.

Assessment criteria: In the appointment process special consideration will be given to scientific and teaching proficiency, which will be weighted equally. Assessment of scientific proficiency will primarily focus on merits within the subject area of the position.

When merits are judged similar according to the general criteria, the following will be distinguishing:
• experience from environmental work within government agencies, businesses or national and international NGOs.

When assessing pedagogical skill, particular consideration will be given to:
• documented proficiency in teaching, supervising and developing multidisciplinary environmental education over faculty boundaries,
• experience with multidisciplinary environmental education for professionals.

Additional information: The first three years of employment will include at least 50% teaching and educational administration. The position requires the skill to speak, read and write formal and administrative Swedish as the education programme is highly related to Swedish law, official guidelines, advice and formal decisions passed by different Swedish authorities at various levels of governance.

The post is a part of a major effort to strengthen the area of Special Education in the Department of Education and therefore includes time for research to a considerable extent in the first four years. The holder of the post will lead the development of the area of Special Education in the Department, conduct research on her/his own, teach and supervise in the postgraduate studies and participate in the undergraduate education. An important duty is to regularly apply actively for external research funding. Within the framework of this effort we plan to advertise one more senior lectureship and a doctoral studentship in 2012.

To be qualified for employment as a senior lecturer, applicants are required to have a doctor’s degree, have completed a course in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way, and demonstrated educational skills. Equal importance will be attached to the assessment of educational skills and the assessment of scientific skills.

In addition importance is attached to skills in developing and managing activities and staff and ability to cooperate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development work. Great importance will be attached to personal aptitude, where, among other things, interviews will be used as an assessment instrument.

For this lectureship we will only consider persons with qualifications required for appointment as a docent.

Scientific skills are demonstrated through publications, documented experience of building up and developing research environments, documented national and international research collaboration and documented ability to obtain research funding in competition.

“Optical transmission and linear and non-linear fiber properties”


Background
Background: Multi level coherent optical communication systems are under research with the aim of allowing 10-100 Tb/s transmission capacity over thousands of kilometers of fiber distances. These high constellation systems are mostly coherent systems with semiconductor lasers as transmitter and local oscillator. As such the systems are subject to heavy influence of (laser) phase noise. Phase noise is a fundamental feature of semiconductor lasers and it is imperative to choose system designs that minimize the phase noise influence. Here, the digital signal processing (DSP) configuration in the system transmitter and receiver is important.

Project
The project will develop and investigate new methods for constructing communications that are tolerant to phase noise:
•    Ways of incorporating features like chromatic dispersion compensation and carrier phase extraction in the receiver, and decide which implementations give the best phase noise tolerance.
•    optical systems utilizing an optical reference carrier frequency signal to eliminate fully or partly the phase noise influence using digitally realized phase conjugation
 modulation techniques that have unique phase noise sensitivities such as  coherent n-level Phase Shift Keying (PSK) and Quadrature Amplitude Modulated (QAM) systems as well as coherent and direct-detection Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OOFDM) systems.

The PhD study will be based on numerical simulations i.e. using tools like MATLAB, VPI transmission maker etc. The student will be registered with the Royal Technical Institute (KTH) and will follow PhD courses here.

Postdoctoral position at the Department of Biomedicine

At the University of Bergen, Department of Biomedicine, there is a temporary position available as a postdoctoral fellow for three years, financed by the Research Council of Norway. The project is called ”Targeting invasive and angiogenic mechanisms in human glioblastoma”. The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the Translational Cancer Research group.

PhD Studentship
Microstructure evolution during forging Nickel-base superalloys

An opportunity has arisen for exceptional graduates interested in doing a PhD in advanced metallurgy. The PhD project aims to characterise and study the microstructural development during forging of nickel base superalloys used by the aerospace industry. The project will make extensive use of the University's suite of state of the art characterisation equipment and advanced testing facilities to simulate the forging of these materials and help develop models of microstructure evolution.

Nickel-base superalloys are the most important class of high temperature structural materials and are widely used in land-based gas turbines and aeroengines. Their mechanical properties are strongly affected by the microstructure. Thermomechanical processes such as forging and heat treatment have a very significant effect on the microstructure and hence the mechanical performance of high performance metallic materials. In order to further develop process simulation tools, that will help to shorten development times for new parts and will lead to more efficient use of material, we require a more mechanistic understanding of how forging parameters affect microstructure evolution.

This research project is a collaboration between the School of Materials at the University of Manchester, UK (http://www.materials.manchester.ac.uk/) and Otto Fuchs, Germany (http://www.otto-fuchs.com/index.php?id=1&L=1). The School of Materials was assessed in 2008 as having the highest level of research power (quality multiplied by volume) of any university materials activity in the UK.  It has a particularly thriving research activity in advanced metallurgy, with significant activities in high temperature alloys, metals for power generation and light alloy research, much of it done in direct collaboration with industry. OTTO FUCHS KG is a privately owned German company producing forgings and extrusions for the aerospace, automotive and engineering market. OTTO FUCHS KG is one of the major suppliers for aeroengine forgings worldwide.

This studentship is fully funded for students who are EU citizens or have been working in the UK for at least 3 years. The project duration is 3 years with an enhanced stipend. A prerequisite is that the successful applicant will have graduated with a first class or upper second class undergraduate masters degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

Senior Project Manager Biologics
To be considered for this position, you must have project management and process engineering experience, ideally within a pharmaceuticals or medical devices environment, with a focus on high speed automation and mechanical
processes. You must also have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as mechanical or manufacturing engineering.

As a Senior Process Engineer / Project Manager, you must have a strong

Telesales Executive
Our client, based in West Dublin is seeking an enthusiastic graduate (ideally with some commercial experience) to join their team. This role involves identifying new customers as well as developing existing accounts. It will be focused mainly on small to medium sized companies. An office-based position, this is a great opportunity to get into industry

Responsibilities

• Make pro-active sales calls & first calls to new customers.
• Drive telesales product promotions within the segment
• Take responsibility for generating sales.
• Take sales calls and enquiries from customers.
• Ensuring system is kept up-dated at all times.
• To work with the European Marketing Segment team to drive marketing promotions.
• To source product when required

Requirements:

• Ideally applicants will have previous sales experience gained from working within a Sales or Telesales department.
• Science Graduate and a scientific or sales background
• Ability to achieve and exceed sales targets set.
• Have an excellent telephone manner and good communication skills.
• Be organised, pro-active, motivated and have the ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of SAP
