Director – Environmental Assessment & Planning<br />

Reporting to the Vice-President of Operations for the SNC-Lavalin Environment (SLE) Central Division, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day affairs of a Department of more than 40 environmental professionals who work in a variety of technical areas including Biology, GIS, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering and Socio-economics. Responsibilities will include general departmental administration including P&L responsibilities, business development and marketing, Client relations and quality control. Some involvement in project management is expected. The position is located in the west end of Toronto with some domestic and international travel.<br />

Responsibilities:<br />

• Manage Departmental budget, forecasting and profitability<br />
• Recruit and hire new staff in accordance with workload requirements<br />
• Oversee and/or execute management of environmental impact study projects <br />
• Management, administration and supervision of personnel.<br />
• Identify new business opportunities, including overseeing and/or preparation of proposals.<br />
• Develop and maintain good client relations.<br />
• Develop and implement a business plan.<br />
• Participate in the company’s sustainable development program.<br />
• In collaboration with other Directors within the Centre of Excellence and Central Operations, participate in the development of, and take responsibility for executing, a growth strategy for identifying and winning new work.<br />

<br />
Requirements:<br />

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar discipline. Masters Degree an asset.<br />
• Professional experience in environmental impact studies; multidisciplinary project management and environmental management planning. Previous experience with the mining and infrastructure sectors is required.<br />
• Minimum 20 years experience, 10 years as a manager/supervisor.<br />
• Proficient with “request for proposal” and management methods.<br />
• Have a particular interest in management and continual improvement.<br />
• Excellent oral and written skills in English. Proficiency in Spanish and/or French a strong asset.<br />

• 10+ years of progressive experience encompassing overall project management including scope of work and budget development, budget management, supervision of staff/contractors with emphasis in the areas of contaminated site investigation and remediation. <br />
• Preparation and review of Phase I ESAs.<br />
• Phase II ESAs including design and execution of soil, groundwater, and vapour phase investigation and programs, interpretation of hydrogeological and geochemical data.<br />
• Phase III remedial plan design and implementation and execution.<br />
• Report writing and review.<br />
• Experienced with the interpretation of provincial and federal environmental regulations.<br />
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills as well as a commitment to excellent health & safety practices. <br />

The Environment Manager will be responsible for delivering high value environmental projects to our clients. The Environment Manager will manage and deliver environmental studies associated with Feasibility Studies, Environmental Impact Assessments and other services for major infrastructure, energy, and mining projects. The Environment Manager will also manage planning approvals and permitting applications for such projects. Qualifications:<br />
•University degree in Geological, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience in a consulting environment as a senior project manager. A post graduate degree is highly desirable;<br />

We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer to join the team in Vancouver.<br />
<br />
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Instrumentation Engineer will work within a multi-discipline team to design, procure, install, commission and monitor instrumentation and monitoring project within the organization. The Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer will perform his/her activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. This role will also provide assistance to the Estimating Team in the preparation of project scopes and project proposals.<br />
<br />
Qualifications:<br />
•University graduate with a Civil, Geotechnical or other relevant Engineering Degree<br />
•3 to 5 years related experience in geotechnical (instrumentation and monitoring) engineering and field investigations.<br />
•Experience with various soil instrumentation including but not limited to vibrating wire instruments, inclinometers tiltmeters, strain gauges, and optical surveys (total station).<br />
•Experience with various types of data acquisition system design and implementation (Campbell Scientific is a preference).<br />
•Strong workplace safety practices.<br />
•The ideal candidate must be mobile and willing to work on a combination of field and office work, as travel will be required<br />
•Excellent computer skills, proficiency with common industry software is required (LoggerNet, GTilt, DigiPro, Surfer, Excel, etc.). <br />

SUMMARY OF POSITION<br />
We are seeking an experienced Proposal Coordinator within the SNC-Lavalin Environment (SLE) group, based in Ottawa. The Proposal Coordinator will report to the VP Ontario operations, and will be supervised by the Eastern Ontario Regional Manager. The individual will coordinate and support proposal preparation and other marketing initiatives across Central Region (Ontario) and other SLE regions or SNC divisions, as requested. The Proposal Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Proposal Manager assigned to each proposal, and other members of SLE’s Site Assessment and Remediation Dept., Water Dept., Air & Acoustics Dept. and Impact Assessment Dept.<br />

RESPONSIBILITIES<br />
* Read and interpret RFPs to identify critical items required for a compliant response;<br />
* Prepare, submit and track internal WIN and Bid Risk Review documents and approvals.<br />
* Ensure proposals are properly scoped, identify missing information, evaluate assumptions, identify risks, evaluate costs, and ensure text and responses match requirements;<br />
* Develop overall proposal schedule, production schedule, outlines, compliance matrices, proposal development plan, and writing assignments;<br />
* Work with Senior Proposal Managers to select proposal and project teams and to manage proposal resources;<br />
* Research and write technical approaches and methodologies that convey the required information to demonstrate SLE's ability to successfully complete projects/assignments;<br />
* Work closely with management, and technical subject matter experts, as well as joint venture partners and sub-contractors to ensure high quality responses within proposals and presentations;<br />
* Review, update and critique resumes for proposals;<br />
* Assist with assembling proposals including conducting Quality Assurance (QA) such as final proof reading of completed responses and ensuring all RFP criteria are satisfied;<br />
* Update and maintain SLE’s internal Project Fact Sheet database for Central Region and other boilerplate proposal material as appropriate;<br />
* Conduct lessons learned and document and implement corrective actions to improve overall proposal processes;<br />
* Assist with other miscellaneous marketing activities as assigned;<br />
* Contribute to Monthly Management Reports for Central Region;<br />

We are currently seeking Senior Geotechnical Engineers to join the team in Saskatoon.<br />

Reporting to the Director of Geotechnical Services Saskatchewan, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer holds a managerial role in a wide variety of geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental projects in our Saskatoon office.<br />
<br />
Qualifications:<br />
•University degree in Geological, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience in a consulting environment as a senior project manager. A post graduate degree is highly desirable;<br />
•Willing to work extended and irregular hours within western Canada;<br />
•Currently registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer;<br />
•Ability to work on multiple projects and meet established deadlines;<br />
•Effective interpersonal skills, a strong client-service focus and the ability to work in a team environment are essential;<br />
•Strong report writing and verbal communication skills in the English language; and<br />
•Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract.<br />

•Evaluating and applying engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to assist in engineering design, data analysis of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations, construction engineering and project management;<br />

SUMMARY OF POSITION<br />

The Senior Air Quality Scientist reports to the air lead in British Columbia. As a member of the growing Western Canadian air team, the candidate will be responsible for conducting air assessments, potentially including ambient monitoring activities, emission inventory development, carbon reduction planning and dispersion and/or meteorological modeling, with additional potential for international work. The responsibilities of the position(s) will also include developing proposals, business development, and mentoring and training staff to assist in our growth. Experience with air quality issues in the Lower Fraser Valley of British Columbia would be considered beneficial, as would experience participating in panel reviews or hearings. Knowledge of provincial and federal air quality objectives and standards <br />

integrated water resources management. The Hydrological Processes and Risk group is focused on hydrological, hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical processes and risks. ­</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">We are interested in experts on groundwater management in water scarce regions, with particular emphasis on impacts of water uses in groundwater
physical and chemical systems. The candidate's research is expected to complement existing ongoing Water Center research activities in arid zone groundwater management, managed artificial recharge,
groundwater protection, among others. Potential areas of research may include developing knowledge about hydrogeochemical processes, vadose zone hydrology, groundwater flow and chemical transport,
isotope hydrology among others.</p>
