Job Description

Under the supervision of a faculty member, conduct organic synthesis, particularly involving transition metal mediated coupling reactions for the synthesis of high-nitrogen heterocycles and electroactive polymers. Characterize chemicals using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. Guide the research efforts of undergraduate and graduate students. Keep a thorough and accurate laboratory notebook. Prepare written and oral reports documenting research findings. Publish results of research in scholarly journals. Follow required safety guidelines; keep the laboratory clean.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related field within the last 8 years. Experience with airless synthesis techniques. Experience conducting nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy experiments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the chemistry of transition metal-mediated coupling reactions, heterocycles, electroactive polymers, and/or electrochemistry.
