
Job Description
This position is responsible for supporting institutional decision-making with accurate and relevant information by the design and implementation of institutional research studies.
Duties
- Compile management information from national, state, and internal databases working with information providers and Texas State staff to insure data integrity;
- Extract and analyze data using data management software and statistical methods;
- Prepare spreadsheets and graphs to facilitate interpretation of data;
- Write narratives and reports to describe research findings;
- Design and administer surveys to collect data;
- Respond to external surveys from local, state and federal agencies;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of basic and intermediate statistics; experience with SPSS software; knowledge of data warehousing concepts; ability to use spreadsheets and word processors. Good communication skills
are required for collaboratively working with diverse clients, members of teams, co-workers, and contacts for research and networking purposes. Applicants should also be able to interpret
instructions, read journals and technical publications, perform data entry, proofread, write reports, document processes for future use, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
A bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, social sciences or a related field is required;
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); Data warehouse management (SunGard/Banner and IBM/Cognos); ability to extract and manipulate data from an enterprise information system;
advanced statistics skills, knowledge of research design and assessment techniques for evaluating performance and customer satisfaction; ability to communicate findings in formal presentations;
knowledge of higher education issues.
An advanced degree in statistics, mathematics, social sciences or a related field is preferred.
