Responsibilities
This position is response for providing statewide leadership for the 4-H and Youth Development program. Primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, supervising Program Specialists with
responsibilities in 4-H and Youth Development; coordinating with regional program directors with the Texas AgriLife Extension in program planning, development and implementation; developing and
maintaining linkage with all relevant individuals, agencies, organizations, institutions and other units within the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, which are conducive to the enhancement
of the mission of the Cooperative Extension Program (CEP); ensuring compliance with Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity and other Civil Rights guidelines related to programming;
strategically planning, developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs and annual plans of work; sharing responsibilities with other program leaders for accountability, reporting and
staff development functions related to 4-H and Youth Development; works closely with the CEP fiscal unit and providing oversight and management for fiscal resources allocated to the 4-H and Youth
Development unit; offering input to the administrative staff for the overall leadership of the organization and participating in the organization's overall program development process; and securing
additional funding in the form of grants to enhance Extension programming in the area of 4-H and Youth Development.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have excellent verbal communications skills, good written communication skills, good interpersonal and organizational skills; and excellent computer skills to include
the use of the MS Office Suite. Must have the ability to perform supervisory responsibilities; have knowledge and understanding of job responsibilities of a Program Leader; demonstrated ability to
work with people; ability to cooperate as a team member; ability to utilize a wide variety of teaching methods; skilled in the design and layout of demonstrations; field experience is desirable; and
be able to respond positively to policy, administration and supervision. Must willing and able to evenings for night meetings, trainings sessions and special events.
- Ph.D. in Human Sciences, Sociology, Youth Development or a Behavioral Science field
- Experience in leadership and Extension work at the county level, program planning, program implementation, etc.
- Five to seven years experience in teaching, research, or Extension
- Ph.D. in Youth Development, Human Sciences, Sociology or Behavioral Science field.
