Responsibilities
This position is responsible for providing leadership in program planning and implementation as well as day-to-day supervision of Research Scientists and Support Personnel. Primary duties consist
of, but are not limited to, serving as lead Program Manager for Food Systems and Plant and Environmental Systems Research; providing day-to-day administrative and management work support for
programs; supervising Research Scientists and Technical Support staff in conducting the research programs; designing, analyzing and interpreting research; planning work preparation and submitting
proposals for funding; accomplishing progress reports, memos and information circulation; presenting at scientific meetings, workshops, seminars, producer gatherings, administrative meetings,
committee assignments, special projects, and administrative control/management; coordinating and developing projects; collaborating relationships with external collaborators and partnerships.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of statistical analysis software; have good leadership skills, interpersonal relationships skills, human resources and fiscal management skills. Must
have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and excellent computer skills to include the use of the MS Office Suite.
Doctoral degree with Post-Doc experience in a research environment.
It is preferred that the incumbent have over 10 years of experience including postdoctoral training. This position should be able to show evidence of a progression of duties and responsibilities
during his/her experience to include managing technical support, personnel in a food science and/or plant and environmental research program. Must show evidence of an increase decision-making acumen
as the person progressed in managerial responsibilities.
Ten or more years of progressive experience in research with five or more years of Administrative Management experience in a land-grant university environment.
Doctorate degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Food Sciences or related discipline
