The Biotransformation group of DMPK is responsible for constructing metabolic pathways and structure elucidation of metabolites formed in-vitro or in-vivo for Novartis development compounds after different routes of administration in blood, excreta, and tissues. In many cases radiolabeled compounds are used. We have small highly motivated lab teams that collaborate closely alongside strong interactions with other DMPK groups in DMPK. We have the latest analytical instrumentation including UPLC-MS.

Responsibilities

As a Scientific Associate / bench scientist, your work will include

• Develop analytical assays, HPLC-UV with online/off line radioactivity detection for metabolite profiling
• Develop analytical assays, HPLC-MS/MS for the structure elucidation of metabolites
• Support pre-clinical/clinical metabolism ADME studies
• Good documentation of experiments
• Assure and maintain quality standards used within the laboratories
• Maintain laboratory infrastructure

Minimum Requirements

• MSc in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics
  or
• other scientific degree and good experience doing this work
• Strong post-degree relevant experience within a quantitative/qualitative analytical laboratory with metabolite profiling and metabolite identification using techniques such as LC-MS/MS
• Knowledge of HPLC and mass spectrometry: experience with basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, multitask different projects, take initiative, identify and execute priorities
• Fluent verbal and written English. German or French useful
