QA/R&D Lab Technician
Stable and growing manufacturer of food flavors and colors is seeking an experienced QC/QA Technician, interested in moving into R&D! Duties include:
Formulate new samples for customer requests, setting product specs for each formulation
Formulate any needed samples to fulfill Sales' Sample request
Update and maintain both electronic and hard copy Product Development Schedule
Aid shipping in choosing alternate pack size for customer samples if requested size is unavailable
Help QC/QA in lab with performing chemical and physical testing of finished products, QC testing (viscosity, pH, color, specific gravity etc...), and obtaining batch samples of formulated products prior to packing.
Ensures use of only current approved batch formulations and current approved documentation protocol.
Ensure that proper documentation protocols and standards are observed.
Answer technical questions from Sales staff and direct calls from customers
Generate nutritional profiles
Update and validate product spec files
Double check/validate current formulations
Research new raw materials to improve products; Research ways to improve product line
Answer production questions regarding current products shelf life, useability, and availability for use in other forms
Meet with QA, Purchasing, and Production as needed to naswer any technical questions regarding raw materials, or finished product, packaging, storage or handling.
Maintain hard copies of experimental formulations.
Develop and maintain cross reference for PMS for each color, and formulation number to each experimental formula.
Required skills:

Education and Experience Requirements:
1-3 years of food/beverage related industry experience desired.
AA/AS degree in Natural Sciences (or coursework in Biology, Chemistry, or Food Science) a plus.
Previous experience working in food colors, flavoring, and baked goods products is a plus.
