Role Summary/Purpose: To provide pre and post-sale technical assistance, troubleshooting and product recommendations to both internal and external customers via phone and email.
Essential Responsibilities: Technical Support Scientists answer incoming technical inquiries from customers via telephone and email. Technical Support personnel participate in product training and activities to develop their knowledge, use databases to access product information, log customer feedback, report quality issues and suggest product and process improvements. They may also participate in activities such as reviewing product literature, field and labwork, tradeshows and system installations. The proportion of time on the phone may vary significantly.
Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Chemical/Biochemical Engineering
3+ years lab experience with DNA, RNA or protein purification technologies and extensive hands-on experience with lab equipment such as scanners, electrophoresis, chromatography instrumentation and fluorescent microscopy
Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills (Presents ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; actively probes for information and listens)
Additional Requirements
Must be willing to work staggered shifts when necessary to cover West Coast business hours

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics: Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Life or Physical Science related curriculum
Demonstrated experience with Unicorn software, InCell, AKTA chromatography platform, Typhoon or equivalent instruments
Laboratory experience (5+ years) with GE Healthcare Life Sciences equipment such as scanners, chromatography, cellular imaging equipment
Proven ability to contribute in a multi-disciplinary team environment
One or more years of technical support, field applications or sales experience emphasizing customer contact
Teaching or training experience including design and delivery of basic and advanced concepts to technical or non-technical individuals
