Medical Professional
University of Dundee
United Kingdom
Feb 2012
This job posting expired on May 18, 2012.
Applications are sought for Principal Investigators in the recently established Division of Molecular Medicine. Candidates should have strong research interests in human genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology immunology, gene therapy or small molecule drug discovery applied to orphan and/or inherited diseases. We are also keen to recruit in the area of biomedical physics or formulation chemistry applied to delivery of small molecule, protein and nucleic acid therapies into human tissues. Applicants active in the areas of inherited or inflammatory skin diseases are particularly welcome. The successful applicant is expected to develop collaborations within the Division of Molecular Medicine and more widely within the University of Dundee.

The central aim of the Division of Molecular Medicine is to develop and deliver new medicines to treat human disease. The College of Life Sciences (CLS) is one of the premier Life Sciences departments in Europe. The Division is physically located in CLS but is a cross-college initiative with close links to the College of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing and the College of Art, Science and Engineering. The Division has a strong multidisciplinary, collaborative ethos where biologists, clinicians, bioinformaticians, physicists and chemists pursue the common theme of developing experimental medicines for incurable diseases, as well as non-invasive systems to deliver new therapies into target tissues. The quality of the facilities and equipment throughout CLS is exceptional.
We are interested in recruiting Principal Investigators at any level (Lecturer through to Professor). We welcome applications from candidates who have established an independent research group, have been successful in obtaining research funding and have a strong publication track record. Applicants will be expected to be competitive for personal fellowships and/or programme level grant support.
