The purpose of these meetings is to provide doctoral students and early career scholars with an opportunity to discuss their current research projects with leading academic experts and a select circle of colleagues. All participants will benefit from tailored coaching provided by our panels of selected experts, as well as from the input given by their fellow researchers, coming from all around the world. The programme will cover cutting-edge research in the field of epilepsy through presentations from the leaders in the field, including lectures by world-renowned scientists on topics at the interfaces of epilepsy. The year 2012 is the centenary of the introduction of phenobarbital for the treatment of epilepsy, and the congress will strongly focus on drug therapy. The schedule will also feature a coordinated clinical teaching programme designed to inform and improve specialist clinical practice. Four main themes run through the programme: basic science of epilepsy; imaging and surgery; clinical epileptology and neuropsychiatry; and clinical pharmacology and drug therapy. In all themes, paediatric issues will be considered alongside those of adult epileptology. Parallel sessions, workshops and seminars in these and other topics will be held. There will be a strong emphasis on high quality poster presentations, and we invite you all to prepare your work for abstract submission in the coming months.

EXCON2012, the 10th International Conference on Excitonic Processes in Condensed Matter, Nanostructured and Molecular Materials will be held in Groningen, The Netherlands, from Sunday, July 1 till Friday, July 6 2012. In 1990, four women gathered around a kitchen table in Florida and started an organization that would become the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA). PHA has served as the center point of the PH community's progress toward new research and treatments, increased awareness and education for the people who live and work with this disease on a daily basis. In celebration of PHA's 10th International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions, we'll be returning to the state where our journey began over 20 years ago. Celebrating this special 10th International PH Conference in Florida provides the PH community with the perfect opportunity to look back at the progress that has been made since our groundwork was first laid around that kitchen table for research, advocacy and education. Determining the satisfiability of first-order formulas modulo background theories, known as the Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) problem, has proved to be an enabling technology for verification, synthesis, test generation, compiler optimization, scheduling, and other areas. The success of SMT techniques depends on the development of both domain-specific decision procedures for each background theory (e.g., linear arithmetic, the theory of arrays, or the theory of bit-vectors) and combination methods that allow one to obtain more versatile SMT tools, usually leveraging Boolean satisfiability (SAT) solvers.
